Born and raised in the Metro Detroit area, Matt attended the University of Notre Dame on a 4-year NROTC scholarship.  Upon graduating, he was commissioned an officer in the United States Marine Corps.  He served as an infantry platoon commander and company executive officer. 

Matt then returned to graduate school and received a MBA in finance from the University of Chicago, where he had the opportunity to studying under some of the world's foremost financial thinkers.  He spent years working in the money management industry for Gary Brinson and Ken Fisher, some of the most respected names in the investment industry.  He worked both in research and client service capacities for private and institutional investment clients alike.  Finally Matt has obtained the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), a well-respected title for investment management professionals.

Since 2010 Matt has been the owner of Cook & Associates, a Registered Investment Advisor.
